Condition

How we grade

Thirteen grades, used the same way here and on eBay, and the grade is always in the title. Where a fault exists it is written in the listing and photographed — we would rather lose the sale than surprise you.

UnusedNever used. It had an owner, but it was kept and never put to work.
Top MINTPre-owned, almost new. Nothing to see on body or glass under normal inspection.
MINTPre-owned, like new. Only the faintest traces of careful handling.
Near MINTPre-owned, almost no signs of use.
EXCELLENT+++++Pre-owned, minimal signs of use.

The viewfinder is graded apart from the lens. A clean lens does not mean a clean finder, so we report the two separately instead of letting the good half speak for the whole camera. Shutter, light meter, aperture, film transport and the optics are checked on every item, and the findings that lower the price are written down along with the rest.

Shipping

From Japan to your door

Shipping is free worldwide by DHL or EMS, tracked and insured. Orders are dispatched within one business day of payment. Cameras are double boxed and the moving parts are cushioned separately.

Import duties are not included. Customs duties and import taxes are set by your own country and are payable by you on delivery. This now applies to the United States as well — the $800 duty-free allowance no longer exists. Please check your local rate before ordering.

Returns

If it is not as described

Tell us within 30 days of delivery and we will make it right. We will send you a prepaid return label and refund you once the item is back with us.

Please use the label we provide. We cannot accept or refund items returned by any other method, so please do not arrange your own carrier — parcels sent that way can be held or lost at customs and we have no way to recover them.

Kurakudo

We are a camera dealer in Japan. We buy, inspect and sell film cameras, lenses and accessories, and we ship them worldwide ourselves.

Japan is where a great deal of this equipment was made and where much of it has stayed, often kept in better condition than elsewhere. That is the advantage we can pass on — but only if the grading is honest. So we write down what we find, including the faults.
